Session recording playback

SignalFlag opens a session's MCAP recordings in Foxglove, so you can see what a metric or event looked like.

Opening a recording

Choose View in Foxglove at the top of a session's page. SignalFlag creates a short-lived signed link to the recording and opens it in Foxglove in a new tab. The link expires, so click again whenever you need a fresh one.

If the session's folder holds several recordings, a Recording file prompt asks for the MCAP file name within that folder. Enter it and choose Open recording.

If playback does not open

  • "Allow pop-ups to open this recording, then try again." Allow pop-ups for the SignalFlag app and click again.
  • "Unable to open this recording. Try again to request a fresh link." The request failed or named a file that is not in the session's folder. Check the file name and click again.

Streaming large recordings

Playback loads the file from cloud storage on demand. To stream large recordings instead, use Foxglove primary sites.
